“The Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied….. And take this staff in your hand that you will perform the signs with.”….. So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took God’s staff in his hand.” Exodus 4:2, 17, 20 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/exo.4.2-20.CSB
When Moses began his work for God, he only had the staff he used to tend sheep. God took that staff used for sheep and made it into a means for His use to move His people to the promised land. What previously belonged to Moses as a simple work tool became God’s tool for demonstrating Himself to others. God uses what we have and who we are and transforms them for His purposes. On the outside, we look the same and have the same skills, but now we are working differently, more intentionally, to accomplish the will of God to complete the work of God. Now, our skills and tools are to help others see God, to draw them to Him so that they will want to know God for themselves even as we love Him and serve Him. Our mission is the Great Commission. This work is not only for the vocationally religious. This work is for every person who will obey Jesus’ command to make disciples. What tools do you have that can be yielded to God for becoming His means of helping others come to know Him so that they might be reconciled to God and inherit eternal life?
