What God Has Declared, We Are Becoming

Hebrews 10.14,36 share, by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy…..You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.

The declaration of God over the people of God is that they are perfect. Declared perfect because of the perfect life lived by God in Jesus now appropriated to us who are imperfect and in no way able to live perfect lives. The perfect life required by God has been ‘lived’ by those of us who believe in God through Jesus the Savior Who lived a perfect life but died in judgement from God for our imperfect lives.

The great exchange of human performance for divine obedience occurs at the cross. Those who believe God will so graciously and lovingly trade our lives for His are pardoned forever by God the Father Whose justice required for our rebellion has been satisfied by the judgement against His Son on the cross. God declares His children perfect even while He makes them holy.

The life we live now is the process of becoming what we are. As the caterpillar eats daily making his way toward full metamorphosis, so too the Christian eats daily from the Word of God, empowered by the Spirit of God in order to obey the will of God by doing the work of God waiting to be transformed into the image of God upon our death and resurrection to a new body upon a new earth where we will live forever with God and all those who have ever loved Him.

This transformation is a process the Christian must participate in by way of perseverance against the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil. These enemies seek to thwart the change from caterpillar to butterfly. We look in the mirror, we hear the whisper, that we are still ugly caterpillars but we live by faith not by sight. By giving, serving, sharing and sacrificing for the kingdom of God to come to earth as it is in heaven we display our journey toward full transformation.

By actively seeking God and diligently obeying God to accomplish the work of God which is the restoration of the world to Christ, we prove we are no longer truly worms but are in the earliest stages of metamorphosis. We must believe God Who says what we truly are and we must work at demonstrating this reality by our words and deeds until we see the culmination of what God has said and what we are destined to become when we leave this world and become united with God in His world to live with Him and all those who have ever loved Him, forever.
