Love is Simple to Understand But Really Hard to Do.

Psalm 67.2 proclaims, may Your ways be known throughout the earth, Your saving power among people everywhere.
Whenever we attend a funeral someone invariably says, ‘they are in a better place.’ It is said to comfort the grieving but if we thought about it very long we would ask ourselves, ‘if the next life is better, why does God leave us in this one?’ (more…)
Ezekiel 3.10 commands, son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself.
I am always amazed by the disregard people have for the Bible. In our arrogance we believe that what we think about God defines God.
That logic has never made sense to me because its untrue in every other realm of life. What I think about a person doesn’t define that person. My experience defines that person but even then, without more experience, I could still be wrong about the nature and character of a person despite what I think. (more…)
1 Samuel 15.22 asks, what is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission…
Luke 10.42 observes, there is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.
Remember the movie City Slickers? The main subject was that there was just one thing that was really important. God too states that there is only one thing worth being concerned about. Seriously, if we believed that we should be dialed in like those around E.F. Hutton, because when he spoke, people listened!
While my quotes are revealing my age it is also true that God doesn’t make knowing Him or doing His will a mystery or complicated. Those who seek will find, are you looking for the one thing? (more…)

Acts 28.22 records, this movement…is denounced everywhere.
Christianity has a long history of being maligned and despised. It actually began under such dubious marketing. What is the problem with Christianity? Why is it the religion to hate?
When compared to Islam and Hinduism, Christianity should be heralded as the only religion espousing women’s equality, intolerance for racism, and love for those who practice sexual perversion. Yet most people think Christianity represents the very opposite on these issues. (more…)
Matthew 22.39 records God answering the question about which command is most important. His answer is unbelievable: A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
Most of us envision God as a bit of an egotist. He wants to be worshiped by everyone, all the time. That’s what we would want if we were God.
While the One True God seeks worshipers, His first desire is to be loved. (more…)
Jeremiah 4.4 records, O people of Judah and Jerusalem, surrender your pride and power. Change your hearts before the LORD, or my anger will burn like an unquenchable fire because of all your sins.
America is increasingly becoming more chaotic. Things are obviously out of control. Many people look for God to fix them.
Our thinking is that since He is all-powerful and loving He should want to end the trouble and has the power to do so. Yet it is not God causing the trouble. It is man against man that is creating our chaos. (more…)
Matthew 15.11 defines, it’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.
The Muslims are wrapping up their holy week most characterized by fasting from sunup until sundown. Fasting has been used by religious people of all stripes from all time as a means to appease the gods and or garner their attention.
Christians have used fasting historically not so much for these purposes but to discipline the flesh so that we obey the Spirit. (more…)
